I hope you do things.

Dear Emily,
I hope that when you're in high school, you join activities.  I hope that you go out on a limb and find things that you like, you know?  For example, if the creative writing club is still around by then, I hope you join it.  Seeing as you'll almost definitely still like creative writing when you're in high school, right?
I hope you do things for you and not for other people. 
Mostly I hope that by the time you're in high school, you have good friends.  Not good as in friends that you're close to, but actually good friends.  Friends that treat you right and who you love and stuff.  Basically, I hope you find your Laura.  Look for people who like the same things as you and who immediately get your sense of humor and you'll be on the right track hahah.
Also, congrats on winning first place in Minnesota for your skating team!  To put in perspective for future Emily the time that I'm writing this.
