It's been like 5 months at least since I last posted in this. I just kinda wanted to tell you to have fun in high school. I'm sure that you'll have fun in the sense that you're doing things that are classified as fun, but somethings things classified as fun aren't fun at all. For example: bowling.
Technically bowling is fun but it's literally the least fun thing ever. You have to pay for it, you have to wear other people's shoes, you have to wait to take only two rolls or whatever you call it, and then you get a gutter ball and have to wait like 20 minutes to try again. Not fun.
Most of the really FUN things to do are free, or not where you would expect it. Go to Clague and play a game you make up with your friends/a game your older sibling taught you (you'll get there.). Go to the beach and lay out or have a cookout with friends. Go work out (doesn't seem fun at all, but it's better than bowling). I dunno. Fun is being happy and not bored, so there's a lot of things you can do! GO LAZER TAGGING OH MY GOD SO FUN. I dunno. Don't waste your time with people who piss you off.
Don't do drugs. Technically drugs may make you happy and they make you unbored (because you're too scared that cops will show up to be bored) but let me tell you. They're not that exciting.
If you end up drinking in high school, don't talk about it all the time. It'll piss people off if you talk about how drunk you were last weekend, and people won't think you're cool, they'll think you're trashy. Or show offy.
ALSO BECAUSE THIS POST IS FULL OF ADVICE
Learn to love your teachers. Life is a lot easier when you can convince yourself that your teachers aren't as evil/stupid/bitchy as you think they are. Maybe I'll write a post about that.
Love,
Hayley
Dear Emily,
to sagely guide you as you conquer middle and high school.

I hope you do things.
Dear Emily,
I hope that when you're in high school, you join activities. I hope that you go out on a limb and find things that you like, you know? For example, if the creative writing club is still around by then, I hope you join it. Seeing as you'll almost definitely still like creative writing when you're in high school, right?
I hope you do things for you and not for other people.
Mostly I hope that by the time you're in high school, you have good friends. Not good as in friends that you're close to, but actually good friends. Friends that treat you right and who you love and stuff. Basically, I hope you find your Laura. Look for people who like the same things as you and who immediately get your sense of humor and you'll be on the right track hahah.
Also, congrats on winning first place in Minnesota for your skating team! To put in perspective for future Emily the time that I'm writing this.
Buh Bye! Love,
Hayley

On fakes.
Let me tell you something girl. When people are being cryptic at you, or fake, kick them to the curb. It is so not worth your time to deal with people who aren't being their true selves to you, and it shouldn't be up to you to figure out what they actually are saying to you every time they speak.
Example: there was a girl who I thought was my friend for two years, and then I found out a few months ago that she has hated me since my freshman year (before I knew her at all) because I COMPLETELY UNKNOWINGLY stole her date to winter formal. She was nice to me that whole time, but also, since then. She still pretends like we're friends.
God that makes me so mad. Tell me if someone ever treats you like that, okay? Because I'll set the chick straight.
Dear Emily,
If everything goes according to plan, by the time you find this blog I'll be at college. If I'm not at college, then I'm just a cheesy romantic.
In December of 2010 I came up with this idea because I was thinking about how while you're going through some of your most tumultuous and terrible and also awesome years, I will not be there. Maybe I'm just romanticizing our relationship, but I would like to think that you'll miss my presence as much as I'll miss you.
And I want to be there for you when you grow up and become a person, which you are not at this point. Becoming a person happens around when you're likeeee a sophomore in high school.
But anyways, I figured that since I won't be there all the time for you to ask for my advice, or for me to give you my advice even when you don't want it, I'll write a blog for you to read when you need a little dose of sisterly love.
On here I'll post personal stories with morals and crap that maybe will give you some sense of direction, or make you laugh, or make you cringe at how silly I am. Either way, I'll miss you a lot, and I hope you take the time to read this.
I guess I just thought it would be something cute to do.
Love, Hayley
